Alpha Product Launch
Alpha Product Launch @ Datu Health
October 2014 — The digital health space is growing and crowded; the challenge is to find a compelling value proposition and vision.
This product was designed to integrate personal and clinical data into one place where the patient could access and actively manage their health. The clinician and the health system gained benefit through improved patient engagement.
The alpha of this product was all about taking a first step toward transforming a grand vision into reality. The objective was to launch an initial version of two health behavior change programs to a small group of users in order to collect feedback and refine the product. The programs were accessible inside of the patient portal, giving unique context to personal health data.
The program was defined by engaging a group of subject matter experts and stakeholders from a health system client. We facilitated this group through a series of workshops and design sessions to translate their standards of care into this digital delivery channel.
We brought these designs and requirements back to our development team and launched the alpha version of our product in October 2014. We conducted several direct feedback sessions with patients and their clinicians, synthesized the feedback and distributed it to multiple levels of internal and client leadership.
After transitioning from a large healthcare organization to a small technology start-up, this project was my first true exposure to the software development lifecycle. I learned something new every day from our development team about the technical solution and their work process. Acting in the role of product owner, I used that knowledge to prioritize backlogs and reinforce requirements.
