I've Got a Notion for Learning
Literally. I started using Notion a few months ago on a recommendation from a friend. It is as if Evernote, Excel, and Airtable had a baby. It is the most flexible, intuitive, and actually fun note-taking app I’ve ever used. While it may be a useful shared workspace, it has been most helpful to me for a few specific needs:
Trip planning - making a packing list for a long trip and then categorizing each item by the bag I’ll pack it in; critical when traveling with a toddler. And creating and sharing my travel schedule with friends and family, using a simplified view that is attached to my detailed itinerary so it reflects changes.
Templates for reflection - I keep a monthly and quarterly record of my accomplishments, lessons, and goals. Having this in a personal location, rather than on a work app is great for portability and creating a template page for the monthly and quarterly reflection questions makes the process quick and consistent. Check out my previous blog on building your personal brand with a work diary.
Learning List - courses and books for my personal growth development as a professional, a mama, and a yoga teacher.
Number three is where I’m finding the most immediate value. Many of the courses or books on the list I purchased months (er, years?) ago and have yet to complete because I forget about them, forget my login and then forget why I bought the material in the first place. Because Notion gives me the ability to log individual records and also take notes within each record, it is easy to organize, prioritize and reflect.
